Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the FAQ page

If you’re wondering how everything works — from booking to delivery — you’re in the right place.

This page covers the most frequently asked questions about my photography, approach, and what you can expect throughout the journey. If anything remains unclear, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’ll be happy to answer personally.

What is your booking fee?

Please get in touch for details of the booking fee. Once the fee is received and the agreement is signed, your date is officially secured in my diary, and I will be there to document your day with care, discretion, and professionalism from beginning to end.

Is there a travel fee?.

No travel fee applies for weddings within Ireland. Travel is included, allowing you to plan your day without worrying about additional charges or unexpected costs.

What is your style of wedding photography?

My approach is documentary and unobtrusive, focused on capturing genuine moments as they naturally unfold. Rather than directing the day, I blend into the background and quietly observe, allowing you and your guests to relax and be fully present. The result is a collection of authentic, emotional images that reflect the true atmosphere, connections, and story of your wedding day.

How long do we wait for our photos after the wedding day?

Your fully edited gallery will be delivered within 8–10 weeks of your wedding day. This allows time for careful selection and professional editing to ensure every image reflects the quality and emotion of your day.

Do we receive samples after our wedding?

Yes. A selection of preview images can be provided within one to two weeks of your wedding day, allowing you to relive and share a few special moments while your full gallery is being carefully prepared.

Are you insured?

Yes, I am fully insured with public liability and professional indemnity cover, meeting the requirements of venues and ensuring your day is protected.

Do you have backup gear?

Yes. I always bring professional backup equipment, including additional cameras, lenses, batteries, and memory cards, so your day is covered without interruption.

Could we also have a pre wedding shoot?

es, pre-wedding or engagement sessions are available. They are a wonderful opportunity for us to get to know each other before the wedding and for you to feel comfortable in front of the camera, resulting in more natural photographs on the day.

Travel within County Kerry is included, with a modest travel fee applying for locations further afield.

How many photos do we receive?

The number of images delivered depends on the coverage of your day, but you can typically expect several hundred carefully edited photographs that tell the complete story of your wedding, from the key moments to the natural, candid details in between.

You are granted full personal usage rights to your final edited images, meaning you are free to print, share, and post them for personal use, including on social media and with family and friends.

Shane Turner Photography retains the copyright, which allows the photographer to use a small selection of images for portfolio, website, exhibition, or publication purposes. Images of children are never used for promotional purposes without explicit consent.

Your gallery will include the fully edited, high-resolution images from your day. RAW or unedited files are not supplied.

When do we meet up before our wedding day?

Four to six weeks before your wedding, you will receive a concise planning form to gather the necessary details. A final consultation will then be arranged — in person where possible, or via phone or video — to confirm the timeline and ensure every aspect is thoughtfully prepared.

Do you do family portraits?

Yes, family portraits are an important part of the day and are included at every wedding. I keep this portion efficient and well organised so you can capture meaningful photographs with your loved ones without taking too much time away from the celebration.

What type of albums do you offer?

I offer high-quality, professionally crafted wedding albums designed to preserve your photographs for generations. Each album is produced using archival materials to ensure exceptional durability and print quality. A selection of elegant cover options and embossing choices is available, allowing you to create a timeless keepsake tailored to your style.

Do you travel?

Yes, I am available to travel for weddings throughout Ireland and beyond. I regularly document celebrations in a variety of locations and am happy to discuss the logistics of travelling to your venue.

I’m getting married abroad, what cost is involved for a destination wedding?

For destination weddings, travel expenses apply in addition to the photography package. Typically, this includes return airfare and two nights’ accommodation (the night before and the night of the wedding) to ensure reliable coverage. Exact arrangements will be discussed and tailored to your location and schedule.

Do you know any good videographers?

Yes, I work alongside a number of highly skilled and trusted videographers whose style complements my own approach. I would be happy to recommend professionals who create beautiful, cinematic films and work seamlessly as part of the team on your wedding day.

We want to elope in Ireland?

Planning to elope in Ireland? I would be honoured to help you capture such a meaningful and intimate experience. From dramatic coastal cliffs and ancient castles to the mountains and lakes of the southwest, Ireland offers some of the most breathtaking backdrops in the world for a truly personal celebration.

If you’re travelling from abroad or unsure where to begin, I also offer guidance to help you plan a seamless, stress-free day. For a deeper look at locations, logistics, and ideas, you’re welcome to explore my Elope to Ireland Ultimate Guide on the Elopement Guides page.

Is my booking fee refundable , what is your cancellation policy?

The booking fee is non-refundable, as it reserves your wedding date. If you need to reschedule, I will do my best to accommodate a new date, and the fee can be applied to that date provided I am available.
