The Brehon Hotel Wedding Photographer

Natural, documentary wedding photography at The Brehon Hotel in Killarney, capturing real moments, relaxed portraits and the atmosphere of your wedding day.

Wedding Photography at The Brehon Hotel

Photographing a wedding at The Brehon Hotel gives us the best of both worlds: a beautiful Killarney wedding venue and some of County Kerry’s most recognisable landscapes right on the doorstep. The hotel works wonderfully as a base for the entire wedding day, while Killarney National Park, Muckross and the surrounding mountains give us plenty of options if you would like to step away for photographs.

My approach as a Killarney wedding photographer at The Brehon Hotel is relaxed and documentary-led. I’m looking for the moments that happen naturally throughout the day rather than constantly stopping things for photographs. The nerves before the ceremony, reactions as you see each other, conversations between family members and the energy when everyone finally reaches the dance floor are often the photographs that become most important afterwards.

When it comes to portraits, I keep things equally simple. There will be direction when you need it, but I don’t want your wedding photography to feel like a long photoshoot. We can use the hotel and its surroundings for relaxed portraits, or take a short trip into Killarney National Park when the timeline and weather allow.

One of the advantages of getting married at The Brehon is its location. Muckross House and Gardens, Muckross Abbey, the lakes of Killarney and the wider national park are all nearby, giving us very different possibilities without needing to spend a large part of your wedding day travelling around Kerry.

Having photographed weddings throughout Killarney and County Kerry, I also know how quickly the light and weather can change here. Rather than deciding months beforehand exactly where every photograph needs to happen, I prefer to make those decisions around the conditions on the day. An overcast afternoon can give us beautiful soft light, while a sudden break in the clouds in the evening can completely transform a location.

That flexibility is particularly important for a Killarney wedding. If the weather is perfect, we can make the most of the landscape. If Kerry decides to give us rain, we work around it rather than allowing it to dictate the day. Sometimes a ten-minute break in the weather is all we need.

Ultimately, your photographs from The Brehon Hotel should feel like your wedding, not a recreation of somebody else’s. My aim is to create a collection that brings together the atmosphere of the hotel, the landscape of Killarney and all the unscripted moments and people that made the day yours.

Your Wedding at The Brehon Hotel

MY APPROACH TO BREHON HOTEL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

A wedding at The Brehon Hotel puts you in one of the most beautiful parts of Killarney, with the mountains and landscapes of Killarney National Park just beyond the hotel. For me, though, the setting is only part of the story. The photographs should be about the people, emotion and atmosphere that made your wedding day different from every other wedding held here.

My approach to Brehon Hotel wedding photography is natural and unobtrusive. Throughout the ceremony, drinks reception and celebrations, I concentrate on genuine interactions and the smaller moments happening around you — the things you may not even notice until you see the finished photographs.

For portraits, we’ll keep things relaxed. We can create beautiful photographs around the hotel itself or, if you’d like to make the most of being in Killarney, use some of the incredible scenery nearby. With Killarney National Park and Muckross only minutes away, we don’t need to turn your wedding day into a lengthy photoshoot to create something special.

Having photographed weddings throughout Killarney and County Kerry, I’m also used to working with changing Irish weather and light. Rather than forcing a predetermined photography schedule, I’ll adapt to what the day gives us and make the most of the best conditions when they appear.

Whether you’re planning an intimate celebration or a larger wedding at The Brehon, the goal remains the same: photographs that feel natural, personal and unmistakably yours — bringing together the people you love, the atmosphere of the day and the landscape of Killarney.

Planning a wedding at The Brehon Hotel? I’d love to hear what you’re imagining and create a collection of photographs that captures your celebration and the character of Killarney, County Kerry.
